Important message regarding the COVID-19 situation
The International Baltic Conference on DB and IS (Baltic DB&IS) has a long history of biennial conferences dating back to 1994, when the first conference was held in Trakai, Lithuania. For 24 years the conference has been held as a regular meeting of researchers and specialist physically in one of the Baltic States. However, the outbreak of the Coronavirus COVID-19 and the countermeasures taken by many countries, including the Republic of Estonia and member states of the EU, have made it impossible to hold the conference on-site in Tallinn. The current information regarding the emergency situation in Estonia can be found https://www.kriis.ee/en.
Due to the on-going emergency situation, for the first time in its history, the International Baltic Conference on DB and IS (Baltic DB&IS) will be organized as a virtual conference. As the situation is new to all of us, we are learning from the experience of other similar events in our community that have decided to go virtual. In this situation of high uncertainty, the organizers are currently assessing the options on how to make the Baltic DB&IS 2020 a high-profile scientific event despite the travel restrictions and measures of socials distancing. The well-being of all our participants their families is above all.
Information about the new organization of the conference due to the COVID-19 crisis will be released as soon as possible. The shift to a virtual conference has significantly reduced the conference fees.
Let us make the 1st virtual Baltic DB&IS a successful and a memorable event for all!
See you all virtually in Tallinn in June!
